I'm sure you heard about Airtel, even you might be a user of this telecom. There is no need of the introduction. Recently I went to the Mirpur Airtel customer care for replacing my SIM card. Because of my Android phone feature it requires "micro-SIM" so I asked them for it and in reply they said I'll get a smart SIM card. I was not so curious because GrameenPhone also provides two different SIM dimension in a single card, one is mini-SIM and other is micro SIM.
After complete all legal procedure when I got the "smart SIM" card I was quite amused.
Airtel Bangladesh now provides three different SIM slots in single card. Basically, they did it to meet all type of customer's desire. First you will get "mini-SIM" card but if you remove it's first part then you will get a "micro-SIM" and if you remove 2nd part of it, then you will get a "nano-SIM". Best of part is you can back to the "micro" or "mini" size after put back those parts. So you got 3 in 1 SIM in the single card.
Before customers need to mention particularly what type of SIM card they need. Even sometimes micro or nano-SIM wasn't in the stock and they force to take the mini SIM card and manually cut it into micro or nano slot. Now high configuration smart phone like iPhone 6, iphone5s, Samsung s6, s5 and others require a nano-SIM card. Even budget smartphone like Walton, Symphony, Micromax requires micro SIM card. Before it was difficult to use micro or nano-SIM in the feature phone. But now Airtel user can use their SIM card in all type of mobiles.
It is a good approach from Airtel to fulfill customer's desire. Hopes other Telco like GrameenPhone, Robi, Banglalink and other will follow this footstep.
As of August 2013, Airtel Bangladesh has 7.97 million subscribers with 7.3% of market share. They improved their customer care service to make more satisfied customer.
